I have always appreciated the many people who decorate their homes with lights at Christmas time. Of course, some of the decorations are over the top with synchronized music and a flashing light show, but the cost of electricity seems like an excess at best. But social convention suggests that there should be some sign of spirit, and I subscribe to that convention, but really prefer simple. This year I looked around the kitchen for a candidate for lighting and settled on a box grater. Yes, the kitchen tool that slices, shreds, and is extremely interesting when lights are added. Particularly, if the lights are flashing rainbow fading LED's. They are a little difficult to find, but are available online and I will provide a link. The circuit is very easy to make and soldering is not really necessary, but desirable, as the decoration is not a forever item. I made a verbal mistake at the end of the video and meant to say "inexpensive" not expensive. Video below:

I could not link to the actual item but just type in rainbow led and several will come up. I used G13897, 5 mm and wired them in parallel. Pretty easy and inexpensive. Good luck!
