Well, I found a site that is based on reality, sarcasm, some irreverence, and is an interesting substitute for the world of fantasy where Santa Clause is a delivery man for Walmart and Target. It may be more important to follow social convention, but for some it is better to see the world as it really is.
I am certain that there are some people who wait until the last minute to send holiday greetings by card. Some even wait beyond the last minute and that is why e-cards exist. There are many sites with all varieties of themes, but most are traditional or based on humor. Well, I found a site that is based on reality, sarcasm, some irreverence, and is an interesting substitute for the world of fantasy where Santa Clause is a delivery man for Walmart and Target. It may be more important to follow social convention, but for some it is better to see the world as it really is. There are cards for every occasion and many are based on Victorian images with sometimes snarky commentary. But there is a caveat. Warning! If you are easily offended by some adult language and content, please do not follow the link. Most cards are just reflections of the world around us, and sometimes that world has what some people call "in poor taste content". If you prefer your material real, go here. Happy Holidays...

Almost everyone on the planet either knows about the board game Monopoly, or has played it extensively. It always seems like a silly game but it has been fun for a lot of people. It was invented by CB Darrow in 1935 when the depression was still in full swing and the game provided some relief to families. What is interesting is that the US Patent is incredibly detailed and complete in the way the game was to be played. The drawings are worth the read as he has documented all aspects of the board, the pieces, and the process. I had no idea how detailed the patent really was until I researched it. See it here. But, I also discovered that there was an additional board game supplement that was meant to be used with the Monopoly board. It was a 1986 patent and has a board that has an insert that holds the Monopoly board so that the two boards are connected. The purpose was to make the game more interesting and complicated. See it here. I have not yet found this "new" board and was curious as to if was ever manufactured and sold. If anyone has seen or used it please let me know. As I recall I spent much of my game time in jail! |
